Know How to paint Your Walls With Ease
The easiest way to bring some flair and change into your home is by repainting the walls. You need not reserve this task for later or until the paint starts to come off as you can do it as easily as any London handyman would. All it takes is to know the basic steps and adhere to certain precautions.
First, you must prepare the room and the walls to be painted on. This includes removing all items from the room, applying masking tape along edges that you wish not to paint on and cleaning the wall surface of dust, grime, mold and cobwebs. As paint is wet and shall drip onto the floor, place clothes on the floor adjoining the walls to protect them. Use an old dress while painting; tape all the edges that need wood paint.
Second, you must provide a primer coat to the walls in order to make them compatible with a fresh coat of paint unless you are using the same paint that was used previously. Make clean straight strokes with a roller or brush and avoid revisiting the same places again.
Finally, mix together the paints in exact proportions and start spraying them onto your walls using a sprayer or use a brush/roller combination. Apply two coats for best results. A word of caution, always wait for the first coat to dry properly before applying another coat. Although, painting walls is easy, the outcome would be better if you left it to a professional handyman.
There are many tiny things that you would never do when painting your walls, which our handyman would do since it takes experience and practice to know the various preparatory steps to take prior to painting such as mixing paints to exact proportions, prepping the walls properly etc. Hence, for optimum results do consult with us for an experienced London handyman.
How to fix a leaking tap?
One of the easiest plumbing jobs that you can perform at your home is fixing a leaking tap. For this task you really do not need our expert handyman advice or support since it almost always involves replacing a faulty washer that has corroded away with time. However, there shall be times when the washer is not at fault and you need to replace the tap entirely. For this you should always hire a Handyman as it requires some amount of plumbing know how. Our fleet of London handyman should be able to do all these and much more for you.
To fix a leaking tap all you have to do is stop the water supply to that tap using the isolator valve. The stopcock or isolator valve should be located nearby for the tap outlet or for the room as a whole. Once water supply has been inhibited, you need to proceed with removing the tap handle. Regardless of what type of tap it is, removing the handle consists of mostly prying away the top cover and unscrewing the handle. Once, the handle is removed, remove the old washer, which is a circular nut like rubber surface. Replace it with an exactly identical washer and fit the handle back as it were previously. Once done, switch the isolator valve or stopcock back on and check to see if there is any more leakage.
Most of the time, this simple procedure is sufficient to fix leaking taps, but sometimes the inner parts of the tap may get damaged and that requires a complete replacement.
How To Get An Electrician’s Qualification In The UK
Becoming an electrician in the United Kingdom is no easy task. There are many certification courses and skill levels that one can aspire to achieve and each takes its own sweet time to accomplish. Moreover, there are basically five routes that one can take towards getting certified as an electrician. Each of these routes have their own advantages and disadvantages. The most commonly followed route is the apprenticeship route wherein a potential employer takes a young individual under his wings training him or her in the required skill set to pass certification exams. Once, the duration of training is over, you are allowed to sit for exams to certify your skills.
Another popular method is the adult trainee electrician route. If you are already working with a company or engaged in the industry but lack the required certification then there are two methods to get them. First is an adult apprenticeship route that shall require you to qualify for over five certificates. Otherwise, one could directly apply for the city and guilds 2357 certification if they are engaged in a day school to learn the trade after which one must apply for a JIB grading card.
Other than these obvious routes there is the retraining adult route, full day scholar course and domestic installer schemes. You can find more information on these schemes and routes by asking already established electricians about qualifications required for the job.
